FahTesha (she/her) and Ashton (he/him) welcomed the early morning with a sunrise adventure session. Their parking garage engagement photos took place at the top of Center in the Square in Roanoke, Virginia.
While the clouds softened the sunrise, pale pink hues still managed to peek through, adding a dreamy touch to the skyline. This location struck the perfect balance: the sleek, city vibes of downtown with the Wells Fargo tower in view and the soft silhouettes of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the far distance. Even without the full golden glow, the setting—and the love between them—absolutely delivered!
Wait, what’s an adventure session?
An adventure session is whatever you want it to be! Most of the time, it’s an engagement session, but it can also be an anniversary session or a casual couple’s shoot. Some couples book adventure sessions for laid-back photos the day before or after their elopement.
This type of session is all about going to an epic location for meaningful and memorable photos. As the name suggests, it involves an element of adventure—which is completely subjective and can mean something different to everyone.
For some, adventure might mean hiking, climbing, or braving the cold (or heat!). For others, it could involve visiting a place they’ve never been before or trying something new and exciting.
FahTesha and Ashton’s Parking Garage Engagement Photos in Roanoke, VA
FahTesha and Ashton came into their adventure session with a vision that was sleek, full of joy, and unapologetically them. They wanted a gallery that felt bold and striking.
Style-wise, they kept it classy and cool. Tesha wore a stunning, all-black fitted dress with a one-shoulder silhouette and heels that turned heads. Ashton matched her vibe perfectly with a silky black button-down, black slacks, and polished dress shoes. Their session was full of good vibes and laughter and included a celebratory champagne pop to mark the occasion.
Their must-haves for their session? Bright and positive energy, a few moodier shots (but nothing too serious!), and a whole lot of fun. They both wanted their sense of connection and humor to radiate from their photos. And yes, as requested, the smooches made their appearance too! They ultimately wanted photos that felt heartwarming and happy and surprise their loved ones.
FahTesha & Ashton’s Love Story
FahTesha and Ashton’s love story started long before they ever dated. They grew up in the same hometown in New Jersey, crossing paths through middle and high school. FahTesha was best friends with Ashton’s cousin, so they always knew of each other, but they were just friends back then. After their high school graduation, it was that very cousin who gave FahTesha a nudge: “You know Ashton’s interested, right?” Eventually, she’d strike up a conversation with Ashton and that conversation turned into something so much more.
For the first few years, they navigated a long-distance relationship until Ashton made the move to Roanoke to be with her. Their connection only grew stronger from there.
When it came time to propose, Ashton pulled off something simple, intentional, and beautiful. One evening after work, FahTesha walked into their apartment to find the space glowing with candles and covered in rose petals. Their favorite song—Best Part by H.E.R. and Daniel Caesar—played softly in the background. No elaborate plan, just a deeply personal and heartfelt moment that felt exactly like them.

From our very first discovery call, it was clear FahTesha and Ashton had a vision and I was so excited to help bring it to life. Their engagement session, included as part of their elopement package, was our first big adventure together and it was such a fun way to kick things off!
We hopped on a planning call to talk through outfit ideas, session vibes, and logistics—and when the weather decided to keep things a little cloudier than we expected, we rolled with it and still created absolute magic! They showed up at sunrise ready to laugh, smooch, and fully embrace the rooftop adventure.
These parking garage engagement photos were JUST the beginning. I’m already counting down the days until their Roanoke elopement in July. If this session was any preview of what’s to come, their wedding day is going to be one for the books!
